2023 Prayer Breakfast

The 2023 Prayer Breakfast was held on Friday morning, March 10th. Our speaker was Misty Cedrun. Misty retired from the San Diego Police Department in 2020 after serving for twenty-six years. She began her career in 1994 as a patrol officer and then promoted to the rank of detective in 2001. She specialized in child abuse investigations of physical and sexual abuse, child porn and infant deaths. Misty was promoted to sergeant in 2006 and worked in patrol and investigations, including Internal Affairs. In 2013 she was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to patrol operations. In 2014 she was transferred to an investigative Domestic Violence Unit with collateral duties as the Director of the San Diego Family Justice Center.

In December of 2017, Misty was transferred to the Leadership & Development Unit with collateral duties as on-site manager for SDPD’s Tactical Training Center where she provided coaching/mentoring/promotional preparation/career mapping and executive development to all Department members. She, along with other leaders developed and emceed quarterly “Women Leadership Conferences” for SDPD personnel.

Over the last twenty-six years, Misty has received eleven “Commanding Officer Citations,” one “Exceptional Performance Citation”, a “Special Commendation Award” from the US Attorney General in Washington D.C. for her “tireless efforts to protect children from sexual exploitation,” and a “Superior Public Service Award” from the Department Of The Navy for “twelve years of leadership, fund raising and volunteer work while supporting thousands of military families during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and the Global War on Terrorism.” She was also a 2020 Honoree for the “Women In Blue” award for “Outstanding Leadership in the Service of Public Safety.”

Since retirement, Misty has been teaching women’s bible study and launched an independent ministry, “Bible Application Training.” She has been a keynote speaker and teacher on topics relating to Biblical principles of leadership, mentoring, loving your neighbor and improving personal and professional relationships. Misty, with her husband Mark, a Retired Navy Ship Captain, live in San Diego.
